He was the leader of the Italian Risorgimento. Noble had trained in London under John Francis (1780-1861), and his 1856 monument to the Duke of Wellington in Manchester made his reputation as a sculptor. He exhibited prolifically at the Royal Academy between 1845 and 1876. Noble's models were presented by his widow to the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and were displayed for a time at Elswick Hall (together with models by the sculptor John Graham Lough).","physicalDescription":"Sitter looking slightly to his right.
