Trained originally as an architect, Wilson became interested in metals in the early 1890s, going on to teach at the Royal College of Art, and publishing a practical manual 'Silverwork and Jewellery' in 1903. Very few tiaras were made by Arts and Crafts jewellers, perhaps because of their essentially formal nature, but Wilson is known to have designed several in the early 20th Century.","physicalDescription":"Winged tiara surmounted by a central patinated silver figure of Cupid in a shell; rock crystal, chrysoprase, patinated silver, gold and enamel.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Wilson, Henry","id":"A6194"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Wilson, Henry","id":"A6194"},"association":{"text":"makers","id":"AAT251917"},"note":"workshop of, probably"}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"silver","id":"AAT11029"},{"text":"gold","id":"AAT11021"},{"text":"rock crystal","id":"AAT11152"},{"text":"chrysoprase","id":"AAT11142"},{"text":"enamel","id":"AAT14910"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Cylinders of rock crystal and chrysoprase, set in gold, with patinated, oxidised silver and enamel","categories":[{"text":"Images Online","id":"THES48937"},{"text":"Jewellery","id":"THES48930"},{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Accessories","id":"THES48998"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"}],"styles":[{"text":"Arts and Crafts (movement)","id":"AAT21205"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"MET","id":"THES48599"},"images":["2006AN7882","2006AX8909","2006AX8804","2006AX8789","2006AX8610","2006AF6547"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"91","id":"THES49703"},"free":"","case":"28","shelf":"C","box":"3"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Tiara","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Kent","id":"x29450"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1908","earliest":"1903-01-01","latest":"1912-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"E.669:439-1955","id":"O579215"},"association":"Design"}],"creditLine":"Given by the British Institute of Industrial Arts","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"5.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"21.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"7.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Designed by Henry Wilson and probably made in his Kent workshop.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Winged tiara of enamel, rock crystal & chrysoprase set in gold, with figure of Cupid in patinated silver, designed by Henry Wilson and probably made in his Kent workshop, about 1908","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"<u>Joyas de Artista.
