This particular group is known as Lakshmi-Narayana. Vishnu holds a conch shell  (<i>shanka</i>) in his upper right hand while the lower hand is in the <i>vitarka mudra. </i>The couple seated on a throne are supported by Vishnu's kneeling vehicle, Garuda, with two up-curving wings and a beak-shaped nose on a square-sectioned tiered base. His hands are reaching forwards.   The throne supports an arching aureole (<i>prabhavali</i>), of stylised light rays emanating from a pair of makara with a many-headed serpent (Sesha) curving over the deities like a canopy, springing out of a cluster of leaves radiating round Vishnu's head.
