She investigates the way history has been created, often seeking to subvert conventional interpretations. In <i>Taste Venue</i> she discreetly exchanges popular decorative images found in a typical 18th-century Rococo patterned wallpaper with images that reflect the harsh circumstances of African slaves of that time who were forced to live and work in the colonies established by Europeans and Americans. Her alternative versions open up new possibilites of historical truth and morality.","physicalDescription":"screen print in red ink on cloth pasted to paper support resembling French Rococo wallpaper","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Green, Renée","id":"A6843"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Philadelphia Fabric Workshop","id":"A6844"},"association":{"text":"printer","id":"x30811"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"cotton voile","id":"x35457"},{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"screenprint in red ink","id":"x35458"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Screenprint, in red ink, on cloth pasted to paper","categories":[{"text":"Wallcoverings","id":""},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Black History","id":"THES48989"}],"styles":[{"text":"post-modern","id":"AAT22208"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2012FL8081","2006AM9881"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"38A","id":"THES49826"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Wallpaper","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Philadelphia","id":"x29538"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1992","earliest":"1992-01-01","latest":"1992-12-31"},"association":{"text":"produced","id":"x30771"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"457.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"of drop","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"143","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"of roll","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"The wall covering was produced in rolls.
