However, the design is a deliberate copy of a Tibetan folding table (<i>chogtse</i>). Furniture makers in Kashmir copied the form from the 1850s, principally to meet the demand for Tibetan items among British tourists in the area. The table is decorated with token interpretations of Chinese symbols. It is signed by 'Laforr Mogul'.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Mogul, Laforr","id":"A6824"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wood","id":"AAT11914"},{"text":"talc","id":"AAT11159"}],"techniques":[{"text":"painting","id":"x30598"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Painted and varnished wood, with sheets of talc","categories":[{"text":"Furniture","id":"THES48948"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2006AM9068"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES368757"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Folding table","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Srinagar","id":"x35414"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1881-1882","earliest":"1881-01-01","latest":"1882-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"37.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"66","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"34","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Folding table, wood, painted and varnished, Srinagar, 1881-2..","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Jaffer, Amin <font u>Furniture from British India and Ceylon: A Catalogue of the Collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum</font u>.
