Alongside an illustrated title-page were 12 cartoons by Crane for various socialist publications, including Commonweal (1885-1894, co-edited by William Morris), Justice (the weekly newspaper of the Social Democratic Federation from 1884-1933) and The Clarion (edited by prominent socialist campaigner Robert Blatchford from 1891-1934). \n'Cartoons for the Cause 1886-1896' also included verses by Crane to accompany illustrations memorialising The Paris Commune such as this print, May Day celebrations, and Christmas themes.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Walter Crane.
