She holds a sceptre with leaf-like decoration in her left hand. The Child wears a gown and a cloak. He looks to the right, and in his right hand he holds a bird, probably a goldfinch, his left hand on its wing. \r\n\r\nThere is a break at the Virgin's neck and across the sceptre. There is a little green paint and the usual daisy pattern at the bottom of the figure. Traces of red paint remain on folds of the Virgin's cloak. There are traces of gilding on the Virgin's crown and hair and on her sceptre and also on the Child's hair.\r\n\r\nThe middle of the back of the figure is scooped out. There are two large holes, together with two usual lead-plugged holes with a latten wire attached to one. The bottom has been slightly cut away.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"alabaster","id":"AAT11101"},{"text":"paint","id":"AAT15029"},{"text":"gilt","id":"x30367"}],"techniques":[{"text":"carving","id":"AAT53149"},{"text":"painting","id":"x30598"},{"text":"gilding","id":"AAT53789"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Carved, painted and gilt alabaster","categories":[{"text":"Christianity","id":"THES48978"},{"text":"Religion","id":"THES48900"},{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[{"text":"Medieval","id":"AAT20756"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AH4617","2018KV2512"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES333503"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Statuette","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"late 14th century","earliest":"1350-01-01","latest":"1400-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Dr W.
