The principle point to settle is whether your print is taken from an original plate by way of rubbing, or from a copper plate, engraved for reproduction. Considering the general aspect, the cuttings in the margin, and the fact that Neptune handles his trident by his left hand, I might be inclined to take it for a rubbing from a silver plate, this must, however, have been very flat. In any case, the vivacity of the composition and the expressive movements of the figures give a high idea of the author's talent. I known nobody except Hirtz to whom one might give credit of such liveliness.\"' ","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Engraving (dotted manner) by Hans Hirtz.
