Posset is a spiced ale curdled with milk. These special pots were often inscribed with the name of their maker. They were only used occasionally, and many have survived. More common household pots have mostly disappeared.","physicalDescription":"Lead-glazed earthenware posset pot, coated with white slip with slip-trailed decoration including the inscription 'JOSHUA HEATH 177' in brown slip dotted with white. The lower part being decorated with combed vertical bands of brown, The whole covered with a yellowish glaze. The upper part cylindrical, expanding slightly at the rim, the lower part rounded.
