These were issued in three editions between 1742 and 1750.  The designs of Meissonnier had previously been published in printed sets or <i>cahiers</i> by Chereau the publisher, and were advertised in the <i>Mercure</i> in March 1734. \r\n \r\nThis plate is one of eight, on seven sheets, (series letter R), depicting architectural designs and plans, including projects for altars in St. Sulpice and St. Leu, Paris, and for St. Aignan, Orleans, a project for the façade of St. Sulpice, and for a painted ceiling representing the Assumption of the Virgin.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Plate depicting an architectural design by Juste Aurèle Meissonnier for the chapel of St. Sulpice, Paris.
