This piece, chosen from an exhibition of Finnish arts and crafts held in London in 1969, seems to be one of the earliest examples. Toikka began his career at the Arabia ceramics factory and became art director at the Nuutajärvi glassworks in 1963. He began his career at the ceramic manufacturers, Arabia, becoming art director at Nuutajärvi glassworks in 1963. 'Lollipop Isle' appears to be one of the earliest examples of a favourite Toikka theme.  It was chosen by the Museum from an exhibition of Finnish arts and crafts held at Heal's Mansard Gallery in 1969.
