Upper; not available for inspection.\r\nDesign: Field: dark blue ground divided into three parts: the top and bottom have two complete and two half rows of linked lozenge-shaped compartments outlined in red/yellow/blue containing stylized floral sprigs in all colours. The middle section has eight rows of two or three 'circular' floral arrangements linked by blue and white blossoms; although these look circular from a distance, they are more diamond-shape.\r\nMain Border: white ground with floral meander bearing predominantly red and blue blossoms framed by red and purple serrated leaves.\r\nInner border: probably a light brown ground with a floral meander of red blossoms alternating with green leaves. Along the lower broder this pattern has been replaced by what appears to be an inscription.\r\nOuter border: light brown ground with alternating inward and outward facing stylised shrubs in various colours.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wool yarn","id":"x30441"},{"text":"cotton fibre","id":"AAT183670"}],"techniques":[{"text":"weaving","id":"AAT53642"},{"text":"knotting","id":"AAT53635"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Hand knotted woollen pile, on cotton warp and woollen weft; symmetrical knot; 140 knots per sq. in (2,240 per sq. dm)","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Floor coverings","id":"THES48953"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"MES","id":"THES48607"},"images":["2019LL0166","2006AK4762","2012FF6393","2017KJ9885","2019LL0167","2019LL0168","2019LL0169","2019LL0173"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"009","id":"THES325856"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Carpet","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Iran","id":"x30220"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1800-1870","earliest":"1800-01-01","latest":"1870-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"118","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"63","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Weight","value":"73.5","unit":"kg","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"30/09/2013","earliest":"2013-09-30","latest":"2013-09-30"},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"1660","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"15/02/2019","earliest":"2019-02-15","latest":"2019-02-15"},"part":"Top edge","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"1605","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"15/02/2019","earliest":"2019-02-15","latest":"2019-02-15"},"part":"Bottom edge","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"2963","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"15/02/2019","earliest":"2019-02-15","latest":"2019-02-15"},"part":"Proper right","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"2973","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"15/02/2019","earliest":"2019-02-15","latest":"2019-02-15"},"part":"Proper left","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"Weight including roller","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Purchased for the Museum by Robert Murdoch Smith, from Sidney Churchill in Tehran, this was acquired as a batch of fourteen carpets and carpet fragments and ten specimens of qalamkari printed cotton.
