The tiles had previously been exhibited in the Great Exhibition, 1851.\r\nThe tiles were apparently removed from the original manufacturer's frame around 1990, due to its condition. A photograph taken at the time shows that the tile was fitted into a frame containing sixteen tiles in a 4x4 formation, with this tile in a corner position.
