The tiles had previously been exhibited in the Great Exhibition, 1851.\r\nThe tiles were apparently removed from the original manufacturer's frame around 1990, due to its condition. According to a photograph taken at the time, the frame contained nine tiles in a 3x3 formation, with six tiles of a different design (C.83:1 to 6-1998) forming a block, and these three tiles laid as a border along one side (almost certainly the top).","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Three tiles with stencilled decoration in mauve, Gonzalez Valls, c.1850-51","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Sandham, Henry (ed.). <font -u>Science and Art Department of the Committee of Council on Education, Catalogue of the Collection Illustrating Construction and Building Materials in the South Kensington Museum. 3rd ed., London, 1862."},{"reference":{"text":"Ray, Anthony. Spanish Pottery 1248-1898 : with a catalogue of the collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum London, V&A Publications, 2000","id":"AUTH354425"},"details":"1013 B16","free":""},{"reference":{"text":"Official descriptive and illustrated catalogue of the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nation 1851. London : Spicer Bros., 1851","id":"AUTH354371"},"details":"no. 55, v.3, p1333","free":""},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Estall i Poles, Vicent Joan. <font -u>Catálogo de la Colección de Azulejos de Serie del Siglo XIX. Castellón, n.d.
