The body of the beaker is decorated with 'prunts'. These are blobs of glass applied by the glassmaker at the furnace while he was shaping the beaker. \r\n\r\nThe prunts also had a practical purpose, providing a grip for greasy hands during a meal. This was no luxury at a time when forks were not commonly used. <i>Krautstrunck</i> beakers are always made in a particular shade of green glass. The colour is the result of naturally occurring impurities in the raw materials.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Glass","id":"AAT10797"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Glass, with applied prunts","categories":[{"text":"ELISE","id":"THES48961"},{"text":"Glass","id":"THES48946"},{"text":"Containers","id":"THES48972"}],"styles":[{"text":"EUROPE","id":"AAT20656"},{"text":"WALDGLAS","id":"x29322"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2006AU2569","2006AU2583","2006AM3781","2017JW5430"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"131","id":"THES49882"},"free":"","case":"14","shelf":"1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Jar","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"15th century-early 16th century","earliest":"1400-01-01","latest":"1550-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"18.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Bought from the Nuremberg dealer A.
