The knot density of this carpet varies considerably from one spot to another, but has not affected its appearance.","physicalDescription":"Carpet, hand-knotted woollen pile on woollen warp and weft; Turkish, 19th century.\r\nWarp: white wool; Z2S; 18 threads per inch (66-71 per dm). \r\nWeft: red wool; Z-spun, unplied; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 10-13 knots per inch (39-48 per dm); lazy lines visible in the field.\r\nPile: wool; 11 colours: dark red, red, yellow, dark green, green, very dark blue, dark blue, blue, purple, black, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 9-117 knots per sq inch (1326-1652 per sq dm)\r\nSide Finish: two cords overcast with red wool\r\nEnd Finish: Lower: missing but with evidence of plainweave with red wool.
