He was Bishop of Maestricht between 633 and 638 and died at Liège around 700. Here he is shown in the robes and mitre (hat) associated with his office. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown but he was considered a martyr saint from early in the medieval period. \r\n\r\nSt Lambert worked with St Willibrord. He was an English saint but is better-known in Germany. They worked together converting local populations to Christianity and establishing churches.\r\n\r\nThe kneeling figure is Jacobus Scheuen.
