According to the Bible, they were awaiting the birth of a new king who would rule all nations. The event was to be signified by a star brighter than any other. At the birth of Christ, a bright star appeared over his birthplace in Bethlehem. \r\n\r\nWhen the Magi set out to find the Christ child they were stopped and interrogated by Herod, the Roman governor of the province. Herod was worried about the threat posed by this new king. He asked the Magi to return to him once they had located the child.\r\n\r\nGerhard Remisch was a glass painter and head of a prolific workshop in the Rhineland in the period 1500-1600.","physicalDescription":"Stained glass panel depicting Herod and the Magi.
