It shows Christ wearing a crown of thorns. The image of Christ wearing such a crown developed in the late Middle Ages and may have been inspired by the 'Revelations' of St Bridget of Sweden. In the middle of the period 1300-1400, Bridget received visions from God detailing the sufferings of Christ. Scholars today believe that this widely copied collection of revelations influenced new trends in church art.\r\n\r\nThe two angels are carrying instruments associated with the Crucifixion. A spear was used to pierce Christ’s side and the sponge was filled with vinegar and offered to him to slake his thirst.\r\n\r\nGerhard Remisch was a glass painter and head of a prolific workshop in the Rhineland in the period 1500-1600.","physicalDescription":"Stained glass panel depicting Christ crowned with thorns, between angels with instruments of the Passion.
