The interior of the garden house was decorated with traditional Hungarian motifs including stylised floral and leaf decoration, and the set of furniture with similar decoration was made by Lörincz Lengyel, a cabinetmaker in Szeged, Hungary. It was shown at the Paris International Exhibition of 1900 and bought by Sir George Donaldson, a London dealer who was commissioned by the South Kensington Museum (the V&A’s predecessor) to buy modern works of art for the collection.","physicalDescription":"Table, ashwood stained green.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Faragó, Odön","id":"A5660"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Lengyel, Lörincz","id":"A5661"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT25370"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ash (wood)","id":"AAT164025"}],"techniques":[{"text":"carving","id":"AAT53149"},{"text":"staining","id":"AAT53058"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Ash, carved and stained green","categories":[{"text":"Access to Images","id":""},{"text":"Images Online","id":"THES48937"}],"styles":[{"text":"Art Nouveau","id":"AAT21430"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"FWK","id":"THES48597"},"images":["2006AV2423","2006AP7914","2006AP7911","2006AP7909","2019LY2062","2022NE2871"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES342638"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Table","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Hungary","id":"x28910"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1900","earliest":"1895-01-01","latest":"1904-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Sir George Donaldson","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"75","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"97","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"59.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Made for the 'Garden Room' at the Palace of Buda","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Table, ash, stained green, designed by Odon Farago and made by Lorincz Lengyel, Szeged, Hungary, 1899-1900.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Greenhalgh, Paul (Ed.), Art Nouveau: 1890-1914 .
