The lid could also serve as a serving dish, when the handle served as a foot. The original attachments designed to keep the stack closed and for carrying it were probably made of another material and have all been lost. This example was repaired and adapted for use as a single box at some time in its history.\r\n\r\nThe decoration on the box includes a blazon, which is repeated eight times.
