They inspired Broomfield’s use of powerful lighting to create mood and atmosphere. This engraving, a reduced-scale copy of Wright’s painting, could not reproduce the colour of the original. As a result, it is similar to Broomfield’s black-and-white photographs.\n\r\nMezzotint by Richard Earlom (1743–1822)\r\nPublished by J.
