The conventional wavy hair is drawn back over a bun-like <i>ushnisha</i> and  there is a raised circular <i>urna</i> on the forehead. The ushnisha or protuberance on top of his head and the urna, a small circle on his forehead representing a tuft of hair, are among the 32 physical marks of a great man described in Buddhist texts. This figure was found in Gandhara, where Buddhist sculpture was influenced by Greek and Roman art. \n\r\nSchist \r\nGandhara/North-West Pakistan \r\nMuseum no.
