The service was commissioned by Frederick William III of Prussia from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin. The figures were designed by Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764 - 1850), and executed by the master modeller Johann Carl Friedrich Riese (1759 - 1834).
