Shiva is seated with a serpent round his neck holding a trident, <i>rudrakshamala</i> (prayer beads) a <i>damaru </i>(an hourglass-shaped drum) and a stick-like implement ( possibly an axe). The river Ganges spurts out from the top of his head in a cascade which terminates in the personalised kneeling legs of the river goddess.  His throne is supported on a Nandi bull on one side and a tiger on the other.
