Strandin trained at the Royal Swedish Ballet and joined the company beoming a premieredancer in 1915 having worked with Mikhail Fokine during his seasons there and danced in Scheherazade and Carnaval. She was also an operatic mezzo-soprano and and actress who appeared in a number of silent films. \nThe figurine which was cast in bronze by the Herman Bergman Foundry was previously erroniously identified as Anna Pavlova.\n\n\r\n\r\n","physicalDescription":"Bronze figurine of a full length ballet dancer, poised on a 'rock' base in high attitude, with the left arm oustretched at shoulder height and right arm held across the body at same height, wearing a classical tutu with deep underfrills, the low-cut textured bodice with a flower at centre front and a cross-over narrow band at the low waist.  The hair is close to the head and curled at the lower edge.
