It is an important contemporary visual record of the screen,  designed by George Gilbert Scott,  and produced in 1862 by the Skidmore Art Manufacturers Company of Coventry. The screen is a monument to the 19th century passion for medieval art.\r\nThe watercolour is from an album once owned by Heaton, Butler and Bayne, the decorating and stained glass firm.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Watercolour showing an illustrated section of the Hereford Screen by Bruce James Talbert, probably for Skidmore, ca.1862, for Hereford Cathedral of 1862,","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"Probably made for Skidmore, makers of the screen (M.251: 1 to 2000-1984).","productionType":{"text":"Unique","id":"THES48864"},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[{"text":"Hereford","id":"x32690"}],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[{"text":"Gilbert Scott, George (Sir)","id":"N1379"},{"text":"Skidmore, Francis","id":"N1387"}],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[{"text":"International Exhibition","id":"V69"}],"contentOthers":[{"text":"rood screens","id":"AAT65033"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.7-2001"],"accessionNumberNum":"7","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2001,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-23","recordCreationDate":"2001-11-23","availableToBook":false}}
