The foral pattern in this border is reproduced in rectangular blocks with the flowers facing alternately right and then left. There are three blossoms per block in dark brown, light brown, beige and light grey; the dark brown leaves are very dominant.\r\nThe ground is mottled dark green and brown, but very little shows between the densely packed floral pattern. There is no complete vertical repeat but the pattern appears to consist of two light yellow undulating parallel stems bearing stylised peonies in light yellow and red with grey, beige and light brown petals. These stems slightly overlay a band of three light yellow and beige tulips on very leafy stems.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Morris, William","id":"A8676"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Morris & Co.","id":"A1365"},"association":{"text":"retailers","id":"AAT25246"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Wilton Royal Carpet Factory Ltd","id":"C398"},"association":{"text":"manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"hemp","id":"AAT14043"},{"text":"wool","id":"x30441"}],"techniques":[{"text":"weaving","id":"AAT53642"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"machine woven Axminster with hemp foundation and woollen pile","categories":[{"text":"Floor coverings","id":"THES48953"},{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&F","id":"THES48601"},"images":["2011FD8001"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"015","id":"THES308456"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Carpet, part","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Great Britain","id":"x32019"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"c.1876","earliest":"1876-01-01","latest":"1876-12-31"},"association":{"text":"manufactured","id":"x29350"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Barry Sherman","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Width","value":"97","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"selvedge to selvedge","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"42","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Weight","value":"1.16","unit":"kg","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"machine woven Axminster.
