The design was executed for a production of William Shakespeare's play \"The Taming of the Shrew\", performed by the Old Vic Company at the New Theatre, August 26th 1947.   The production was directed by John Burrell; the sets were designed by Kathleen Ankers; the costumes were designed by Audrey Cruddas; and the lighting was by John Sullivan.
