The design was executed for a production of Verdi's opera \"Luisa Miller\" by the Sadler's Wells Opera, October 1st 1953. The opera's libretto is adapted from Schiller's play \"Kabale und Liebe\", and the librettist was Salvatore Cammarano.  The Sadler's Wells production was translated by Tom Hammond & Norman Tucker; conducted by James Robertson; directed by Basil Coleman; and the setting were designed by Patrick Robertson.
