At the time, many fashion plates were quite sedate and static. The L'Indiscret plates are particularly notable for their liveliness, strong narrative content, and very high quality drawing. The 54 images published during the magazine's run include a fashionably dressed mother scolding her young son who is throwing a tantrum over his lessons, and another showing a well-dressed lady being entertained by an elaborately dressed performing monkey accompanied by a small boy in patched clothing.
