It therefore seems likely that during this time, or at least before his death in 1915 (although his widow lived in the house until her death in 1948) Hicks Graves had this fireplace installed in the Hall. It is illustrated in an article by Christopher Hussey in Country Life, 6 August 1932, pp 154-159, pl. 11. The photograph reproduced shows a chimney piece only very slightly different in detail from that in the drawing and the andirons appear to be the same, but the firehood is completely different. \r\n\r\nAs the drawing is rather slight it seems likely to represent a design for the hood rather than for the chimney piece itself, although not the design finally chosen. It could have been made just after the design for the chimney piece was decided or any time up to the 1920s.\r\n\r\n- Taken from departmental records.
