It published cartoons, which satirised, amongst other things, the boorishness of the Prussian Military caste. From the late 1920s until the mid 1930s it attacked the members of the Nazi party, but after that it had to confine itself to less dangerous topics until it ceased publication in 1944. The industrial revolution in Germany, as everywhere, had caused social upheaval, and industrial unrest was a common subject for cartoonists. The speed of change was faster in Germany than in Britain as industrialisation had started much later.","briefDescription":"Drawing for a satirical cartoon `Entgegenkommen' for the magazine Simplicissimus, by Karl Arnold, 1911.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Fritz Arnold Karl Arnold 1883-1953.
