Ub Iwerks, a Dutchman by birth and an associate of Disney, adapted the process so it could be used in printing on transparent acetate. By this means previously hand drawn repetition was obviated. It also allowed much freer, more dynamic line to appear throughout the film as hand copying was invariably done by tracing with a very flat line. This process was introduced c. 1959-60.
