The design was executed for a highly successful production of Mozart's opera \"Le Nozze di Figaro\", which opened at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in June 1955.  The production was directed by Carl Ebert and conducted by Victorio Gui.  The cast included Sena Jurinac as Countess Almaviva.\n\nHistorical significance: A fine example of an \"18th century\" style costume design by Oliver Messel.  This design had been presented by Messel to David Harvey-Jones, a highly skilled tailor who worked on the 1955 production of \"Le Nozze di Figaro\" at Glyndebourne.
