Some were allowed to sway and sweep across the fabric, some were stylised and many were enriched with metal thread. The colours were originally very bright but have often faded to pleasing pastel shades.","physicalDescription":"Cover, silk embroidered with silk in atma and with metal thread in couching in a basket weave pattern and couched lines.\r\nThere is a small pink flower in the centre with four small outward facing white flowers at the cardinal points. These point towards four inward facing white floral sprigs, one mid-way along each side. The dominant motifs are two pairs of curving stems which begin mid-way down opposite sides and curve out to fill the corners, bending in towards the centre. Near the base of this stem is a large white and gold flower edged with pink leaves; there are pink leaves along the stem and small white flowers.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"silk thread","id":"x30127"},{"text":"metal thread","id":"x30421"}],"techniques":[{"text":"weaving","id":"AAT53642"},{"text":"embroidering","id":"AAT53653"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Silk, embroidered with silk in atma (laid and couched with a couched line), and with metal thread in couching in a basket weave pattern and couched lines","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"},{"text":"Embroidery","id":"THES48960"}],"styles":[{"text":"Ottoman","id":"AAT21614"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"MES","id":"THES48607"},"images":["2006AM0845","2011ER9297","2013FY9915","2013FY9918","2013FY9923"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"P044","id":"THES344916"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Cover","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Turkey","id":"x29225"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1700-1850","earliest":"1700-01-01","latest":"1850-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"50.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"48.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Middle East, Textile; Cover or bokcha, blue silk panel with silk-embroidered flowers, Ottoman Turkey, 1700-1850","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Marianne Ellis and Jennifer Wearden.
