The \"Tynwald Court\" assembled to read the new Manx Laws to the people in the English and Manx languages from the Tynwald Hill, St John's on July 5th (Midsummer's Day, old style)\r\n\r\nThe Tynwald, founded in 979, is said to be the oldest parliament in continuous existence. It meets annually on Tynwald Hill on 5 July to proclaim new laws.
