Trepkowski's work however was often rejected by the state for deviating from the official Socialist Realism style of the Soviet Union. After the artist's sudden death at the age of 40 in 1954, the design was revived to honour his memory, becoming a beacon of the postwar peace movement. It was used in his native Warsaw to promote a Youth and Student Festival in 1955. In the same year, an annual prize bearing his name was established in Poland to award young graphic artists of promise. Trepkowski himself had little to no formal education and was a self-taught master of poster design, considered today as one of the key originators of the Polish School of Posters.","physicalDescription":"Colour lithograph poster of a large bomb dropping through the air.
