These drawings have been attributed to Heckel because of similar drawings in the sketchbook E2998- 1948. They appear to be too small to be the main scene on a watch case.\nBought about 1860 from Appleby Bros for £10 as one of 14 drawings in a volume of engravings.  \n \r\nAugustine Heckel was born in Augsburg. He spent sometime in Paris. Was established a leading London gold chaser by 1732. He was still active as a chase in 1749 but later retired to Richmond producing prints and drawings of flowers and landscapes.
