They pioneered sculptural glass in Czechoslovakia, developing the technique of mould-melting glass, in which large chunks of raw glass are laid into a mould taken from an original clay model and fired in a furnace. Teaching generations of students, Libensky passed on this technique, which is now a classic hallmark of Czech glass. 'Arcus' is a monumental abstract sculpture in which Libensky and Brychtova have explored geometry and optical effects.","physicalDescription":"Blue-grey glass sculpture of arch profile, irregularly-edged, with a central narrow vertical opening delineated by precise geometric interval planes.\r\nThe form is mould-melted; a plaster mould is made and filled with chunks of raw coloured glass and then heated.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Libensky, Stanislav","id":"A764"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Jaroslava Brychtova","id":"A17199"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"glass","id":"AAT10797"}],"techniques":[{"text":"moulded","id":"x30076"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Mould-melted glass","categories":[{"text":"ELISE","id":"THES48961"},{"text":"Images Online","id":"THES48937"},{"text":"Glass","id":"THES48946"},{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"CER","id":"THES48594"},"images":["2006AT3716","2015HL8481","2015HL8482"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"129 (VA)","id":"THES49886"},"free":"","case":"EXP","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Sculpture","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Zelezny Brod","id":"x29270"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1991","earliest":"1991-01-01","latest":"1991-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"75.0","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"98.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"maximum","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"11","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Weight","value":"90","unit":"kg","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"'S.
