Angelo', and numbered in red ink 'No. 32 1017/60' \nPen and ink and wash \r\n10 ½ x 11 5/8 (267 x 296)\t\t\t\t2275\r\nPROVENANCE Sir T. Lawrence: S. Woodburn (sale, Christie, 4-8 June 1860, bought for the Museum).\r\n\r\nFormerly attributed to Vasari, as in the old inscription, and described as a ceiling design. But the design, though not by the hand of Perino, bears some resemblance to two designs for metal dishes ascribed to him in the British Museum (1862-7-12-191) and the Hamburg Kunsthalle (21088). Both drawings are illustrated in A. Neumeyer, 'Einige italienische Handzeichnungen in Hamburg' in <i>Zeitschrift fur bildende Kunst</i>, 62, 1928-29, p. 46. On the British Museum drawing see also Pouncey and Gere, no. 167.
