Richardson built up a large collection of originals and copies (many of which he executed himself) of his master's designs, and distributed the bulk of them into two folio volumes, interspersed with the printed pages of the book. Work began in October 1822 and construction continued until the end of 1827. Although the building survived the fire in the Palace of Westminster, the Law Courts were demolished in 1883.
