The house survives having served as Ealing Public Library.\r\n\nThis drawing was pasted into a copy of Sir John Soane's book Designs for Public and Private Buildings owned by Soane's assistant Charles James Richardson. Richardson built up a large collection of originals and copies (many of which he executed himself) of his master's designs, and distributed the bulk of them into two folio volumes, interspersed with the printed pages of the book. These volumes were bought by the South Kensington Museum (now the V&A) in 1863.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Detail of a shelving unit in the front parlour of Pitzhanger Manor House, by Sir John Soane, ca.1801-1804","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"du Prey, P. de la Ruffinère. Sir John Soane: Catalogue of Architectural Drawings in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1985, p.103, cat.429."},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Richardson, G. New Vitruvius Britannicus,Vol. II, 1808, pls.57-59."},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Soane, J. Plans, Elevations, and Perspective Views of Pitzhanger Manor House, and of the Ruins of an Edifice of Roman Architecture, Situated on the Border of Ealing Green, with a Description of the Ancient and Present State of the Manor House, in a Letter to a Friend, 1802, n.d. 1833?"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Soane, J. Memoirs of the Professional Life of an Architect between the Years 1768 and 1835, 1835, pp.62-64"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Bolton, A.T. Pitzhanger Manor Ealing Green (Now the Ealing Public Library): The Country Retreat from 1800 to 1811 of Sir John Soane, R.A., F.R.S., F.S.A., 1918"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Bolton, A.T. Life and Work a Century Ago: An Outline of the Career of Sir John Soane, R.A., F.R.S, F.R.A., 1922, p.7"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Bolton, A.T. The Union of Architecture, Sculpture, and Painting; Exemplified by a Series of Illustrations, with Descriptive Accounts of the House and Galleries of John Soane, 1927, pp.7, 180"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Summerson, J. Sir John Soane, 1952, p.34"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Stroud, D. The Architecture of Sir John Soane, London, 1961, pp.15-16, 25-26, 81-82, 161"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Feinberg, S.G. Sir John Soane's 'Museum:' an Analysis of the Architect's House-Museum in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, Ph.D. dissertation, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1979, p.33, figs. 34-35 (cat.428, 429)"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"du Prey, P. de la Ruffinière. John Soane: The Making of an Architect, Chicago, 1982, pp.21-22"},{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Stroud, D.
