Painted in red, green, turquoise, yellow and black. The body largely occupied by an extended scenes of a process consisting of five persons on horse-back, attended by canopy-bearers and servants carrying books, scrolls, and a (?) hat on a dish. At the head are two men on foot with staves. They are arriving at the steps of a pavilion which is surrounded by trees and a park with deer; and on the terrace they are waited by a venerable figure attended by a boy. The scene is bordered by friezes of key-fret patterns. On the shoulder is a band with phoenix and leaf scroll, in which are also depicted eight medallions of the 'Eight Trigrams'. Above this is a classic scroll frieze, and the decoration is concluded by a scrolling band with fire-petalled flowers on the neck. Yanshan is Dou Yudiao, a figure of the Five Dynasties period who educated his five sons to such good effect that they all rose to high office. The sons are the 'five cassias', also sometimes the 'five dragons'. Here they approach their father on horseback, servants carrying their insignia of office. The inscription on the screen behind Dou Yudiao makes the allusion clear.
