Painted inside are two wagtails on a bank by water, with <i>mizu-aoi</i>, chrysanthemum and maple leaves. <i>Mizu-aoi</i> is a waterside plant, while wagtails on the point of migration, chrysanthemum and red maple leaves floating on the water are all motifs redolent of autumn. The background is painted in underglaze blue, the <i>mizu-aoi</i>, maple and birds in black, brown, green, yellow and red enamels.
