This poster was produced by Dewynters PLC which produces a large percentage of the publicity for West End productions, and aims to produce original and innovative posters which capture the attention of their intended audience. In many cases the images, or part of the images, are intended to act as an instant reminder of the production to people seeing the posters briefly, for example, when they are pasted on buses. Examples of this 'logo' approach to poster design are the eyes that featured in posters for Cats or the mask on the poster for The Phantom of the Opera.","physicalDescription":"Poster on gloss finish card featuring six black and white photographs of cast members of Chicago from various productions, three in the upper half of the poster and three in the lower half, with the word Chicago in large red capital letters along the middle, and in smaller white lettering 'The Musical'. White lettering at the bottom of the poster gives the names of the cities where it is being produced; the fact that the cast recording is available on RCA Victor, and the name of the Adelphi Theatre, Strand, the London theatre where it is appearing.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Dewynters Ltd","id":"A1814"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"x36960"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Dewynters Ltd","id":"A1814"},"association":{"text":"printer","id":"x30811"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"Paper","id":""}],"techniques":[{"text":"Offset lithography","id":""}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Offset lithography on card with gloss finish","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"},{"text":"Advertising","id":"THES49001"},{"text":"Musical Theatre","id":"THES278879"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2008BW2646","2014GY9687"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"002","id":"THES345184"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"posters","id":"AAT27221"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1999","earliest":"1999-01-01","latest":"1999-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed","id":"AAT53319"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Dewynters PLC","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"58","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"38","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":" ","type":"","note":""}],"objectHistory":"Poster issued in 1999 advertising Chicago at the Strand Theatre.
