Informal wear. Right side fastening with five gilt buttons, elbow-length and wide sleeves, straight cuffs. Short slit at sides. New blue synthetic lining. Light khaki twill ground embroidered with coloured floss and silks in satin, pine-needle stitch, and twisted silks in couched work. Spangles are applied on the ground. The main body is embroidered with \"beauties\",  figures of ladies approximately 10 inches high carrying flowers in vases and baskets. The lady embroidered on the front side, middle rank extreme left could be Lin daiyu, one of the main character of the novel \"Dream of the Red Chamber\" (Cao Xueqin, Qing Dynasty). She is indeed carrying a hoe on her shoulder like on Lin Daiyu's most frequent representation. The neck, opening flap  and cuffs of the robe are trimmed with black silk band embroidered with flowers and lucky symbols.
