The box is rectangular, with six legs which taper upwards. It is painted with landscapes and animals as follows: On the top of the lid, a temple among trees in the rocky gorge of a river on which are two boats; inside the lid, a pair of mandarin ducks flying and flowering plants. Inside the box, on the bottom, a group of ducks on the shore of a lake; outside a group of deer wading in water, a group of quails, a cock and hen with chickens beside a bamboo grove, and a pair of pheasants among flowering bushes.
