The only other images are photographs taken about the time of its demolition.","historicalContext":"This picture shows the first lecture theatre at the South Kensington Museum designed by Sir James Pennethorne. It was built in 1856-1857 and demolished in 1865. The three Sappers visible in the picture were part of the detachment who were the builders and then the first warders in the Museum.
