Once cut from the loom, the warp threads have been twisted and knotted to form a fringe.","physicalDescription":"1931 Description: Sash, woven with narrow stripes of red, edged with a thread of white, on a dark blue ground.  At either end is a short fringe of twisted threads.\r\n\r\n1975 Description: Man's sash-belt.  There are many variations of men's striped sashes from many different villages.  Basket weave (both cotton warp and cotton weft are paired).  The warps are set close together, therefore forming a warp-faced fabric.  The weft is blue.\r\n\r\nTechnical Details (1995)\r\nWarp: (i) blue cotton; Z-spun, unplied, paired threads. (ii) red cotton; Z-spun, unplied, paired threads.
